About the Role
The Data Engineer builds the pipelines and models that turn VistralNova's raw product activity into something the team can make decisions with. Gameplay events, application funnels, on-chain activity, and service telemetry currently arrive in different shapes from different systems. This role makes them queryable, trustworthy, and timely. The measure of success is simple: when someone asks a question about how the product is being used, the answer exists, arrives quickly, and is correct.
What You'll Do
- Design and build data pipelines from product, game, service, and on-chain sources.
- Model data so that common questions are simple queries rather than research projects.
- Build and maintain the warehouse, transformations, and scheduling that keep it current.
- Instrument events with the product teams so the right things are captured at source.
- Monitor data quality and freshness, and alert when a pipeline lies rather than fails.
- Support analysis and reporting for product, growth, and operations.
- Handle personal data carefully, with retention and access controls that match policy.
What We Look For
- Experience building and operating production data pipelines.
- Strong SQL and solid data modelling judgment.
- Proficiency in Python or a comparable language for data work.
- Experience with a warehouse and modern transformation tooling.
- Understanding of event instrumentation and its failure modes.
- Care about correctness — a confidently wrong dashboard is worse than none.
- Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders on what they actually need.
Nice to Have
- Experience with game analytics, funnels, retention, or cohort analysis.
- Experience indexing on-chain data or reconciling it with off-chain records.
- Streaming or near-real-time pipeline experience.
- Experience being the first data hire somewhere.
